Acupuncture can be very beneficial in providing support to patients at all stages of their cancer journey.

There are four primary ways that acupuncture can help with cancer care:

  1. Reduce nausea, vomiting, and fatigue associated with chemotherapy
  2. Pain relief from neuropathy, incisions, tumors, and other issues
  3. Improve digestion
  4. Assist in stress management

Acupuncture is used to treat the side effects of chemotherapy. There is no evidence that acupuncture in any way treats or cures cancer. Researchers are starting to look at the impact that acupuncture has on boosting the immune system. There is also evidence that acupuncture can help reduce edema in patients that have had lymph nodes removed.

Currently, the National Institute of Health is sponsoring more than 20 clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness of acupuncture in cancer care.
